US$400 million syndicated loan to Bladex granted by SMBC

Arias, Fábrega & Fábrega served as lead counsel to Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior in the largest syndicated facility ever closed in Bladex's history.

Bladex successfully closed a US $400 million global syndicated loan facility, with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) acting as the sole lead arranger and bookrunner. This achievement highlights ARIFA's expertise in managing high-stakes, cross-border transactions across multiple jurisdictions.

The transaction garnered interest from 33 financial entities across Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Spain, Austria, the U.S., India, and China. Some of these entities represent new banking relationships for Bladex, contributing to the diversification of the bank's funding structure. The loan proceeds will be used by Bladex for general corporate purposes.
